Brittany: Hey there! I’m Brittany. I am married and have two adult kids, two dogs, two cats, and two bearded dragons. We like to joke that we’re like Noah’s ark. I’ve taught, co-taught, lead grade levels, and created resources for 5th and 6th grade for 25 years. I spent 17 years teaching 6th grade. Those years were in a self-contained classroom, a middle-school classroom, and in a hybrid situation. I also spent one year co-teaching fifth grade, and one year subbing in third through sixth. In addition to that, acting as the grade level team leader for 11 of those years was a pleasure and a joy of mine. I hope you’ll love hearing us each week as we give you advice on the middle school classroom.
Ellie: Hi, I’m Ellie. I’ve been in education, teaching, working with teachers, and creating resources for about 30 years. For 12 years I taught all subjects at the elementary level – 5th grade, 4th grade and 2 years at 2nd grade. and then I spent 12 years teaching 6th grade in a middle school. During those years I taught different combinations of subjects… I taught language arts and science, then LA, science and math, then language arts and math. And then for the last few years I taught only math (my favorite) to 5 sections a day. Beside being a teacher and working with teachers, I’m a wife, a mom of 3 adult children and a grandma, and a dog mom of 2.
Brittany: We can’t wait for you to join us in this podcast journey talking about all things upper elementary and middle school.
